About
Welcome to Bare + Fair! I’m Mel, a mum of three and long-time resident of Woking. Like most people, I’m on a journey with sustainability and haven’t got it nailed but am trying to do what I can. After coming across the Zero Waste movement four years ago, I quickly realised there was need in our community for a refill shop and decided to start one myself – our values are in our name:
BARE – minimum packaging and maximum transparency
FAIR – to the planet, our global neighbours & our customers
One shop, two business awards and 68,000 refilled containers on, I’m so grateful for the local support that has allowed us to grow from a weekly market stall to a fully-fledged shop. You can find us at our store in The Peacocks Centre Woking, shop on our website or make use of our local delivery service. My hope continues to be that Bare + Fair can make it easy and affordable for anyone to get close to ‘zero waste’, wherever you happen to be on your sustainable journey.
Vive la Refillution!
Mel

P.S. It is my pleasure to speak at local schools, colleges, community groups and events about reducing plastic use and all things ‘zero waste’ – do get in touch if this is of interest.
Meet the Team

Mel
Mel got into sustainable living after a talk on climate change at the WWF Living Planet Centre. When she’s not running Bare + Fair, Mel loves a good book and attempting to grow veg.

Top Zero Waste Tip:
“Simply take note of what you’re repeatedly putting in your bins (not just your black bin but recycling and food bins count too!) and tackle it one thing at a time.”

Rachel
Rachel got into sustainable living when she discovered the joys of reusable nappies. When she’s not helping you all with your refills, Rachel enjoys bellringing.

Top Zero Waste Tip:
“Just do something small to start with, don’t be put off because you can’t do everything.”

Tracey
Tracey got into sustainable living when she started making her own cleaning products. When she’s not whipping up a new batch of cleaning spray, Tracey loves a good glass of vino with friends.
Fave Bare + Fair product:
Coconut Scourers
Top Zero Waste Tip:
“If you have room, set up a bin/box you can store your empty containers in. You’ll then have an easy, plentiful stock to look through for your ideal refill!”

Becky
Becky got into sustainable living when she started bulk buying as much as possible to reduce her plastic use. When she’s not expertly moving huge sacks and tubs of refills, Becky loves travelling Europe by train with her husband.
Fave Bare + Fair product:
Jim + Henry Leave-In Conditioner
Top Zero Waste Tip:
“The best items to swap are those which you’re running low on – start small by swapping just one item; the rest will come naturally and it won’t seem as overwhelming!”

Rahel
Rahel’s been on a journey with sustainability since learning about recycling as a child. When she’s not investigating new refillable/reusable/recyclable products, Rahel loves studying ancient cultures and languages.

Washla Shampoo Bars
Top Zero Waste Tip:
“Cycle or walk if possible – not only does this reduce your carbon footprint but it can lead you to discover hidden gems on your way.”
